WATAUGA -- Sidney W. Meyer, 82, left us to join his Eternal Father and his family in heaven, Thursday, May 5, 2011. He passed peacefully with his wife of 34 years and with his friends at his bedside at a Dallas hospital. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2016 Willis Lane, Keller, with Father Jim McGhee, celebrant. Interment: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends in 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lucas Keller Funeral Home, 137 E. Hill St., with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Memorials: Friends who desire are respectfully invited to honor Sidney's memory with gifts in his name to Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org. Sidney was born Nov. 19, 1928, in Omaha, Neb., to the late Fred and Olga Wold Meyer. Sidney never knew anyone except as a friend. He never let his health affect his life and he fought for every precious moment. Sidney proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. We, as his family, wish to thank all of his friends who shared his life and showed him such kindness. A special thank-you to his friends at Wendy's and Starbucks in Watauga. He will be missed daily by his family and all who knew him. Please join us in celebrating his life. In addition to his parents, Sidney was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Arant. Survivors: Wife, Mary Meyer; sons, Tom Meyer and Billy Meyer; daughters, Linda Bruning and husband, Mitchael, Karen Hickle and husband, Thomas, and Carolin Nicholson and husband, Daniel; eight grandchildren; sisters, Marian Byler and Mary King and husband, Jack; extended family; and many friends.
