STEPHANN MORRIS

FORT WORTH -- Stephann "Pooh" Morris died peacefully Thursday afternoon, Feb. 9, 2012, during her 81st year following a lengthy illness. Service: 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper with Rev. Paul Reedy, chaplain with Odyssey Hospice, officiating. Pooh will be laid to rest with her parents in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: She will lie in state on Monday where family and friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Odyssey Hospice, 2630 W. Freeway, Ste. 102, Fort Worth, Texas 76102, or the Humane Society of North Texas, in Pooh's memory, is suggested. Born in Fort Worth on Sept. 23, 1930, Stephann Morris was the daughter of Stephen L. and Florence Estelle Horner Morris. "Pooh," as she was known by family and friends, devoted her life to taking care of her parents and entertaining her nieces and nephews, when they visited. She was also dedicated to many friends in her neighborhood, who she was a caretaker to some during their lives. She and her sister, "Shorty," are both known for their love of life and the long and happy relationship they had with one another. A lifelong member of Broadway Baptist Church, she enjoyed reading and being with family. She was an avid animal lover and cared for and owned many pets throughout her life. Her quick wit endured her to many people and made her a joy to be around. She had a passion for dogs, people and anything chocolate! The family wishes to thank Odyssey Hospice and Keller Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation center for their loving care and guidance during her time with them. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and his wife, Lanier and Helen Morris; sister and her husband, Alberta and George Smith; brother-in-law, Tom Carmichael; and great-nephews, Jon Carmichael and Bob Gales. Survivors: In addition to her sister, Charlotte Love "Shorty" Carmichael of Cleburne, Pooh is survived by eight nieces and nephews; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews and their families.
