FORT WORTH -- Steve Boyd Jr., 83, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday evening, July 20, 2008. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper. The Rev. Joe Bob Boyd, Steve's brother, and the Rev. Mel Bridge, chaplain at Broadway Plaza, will officiate. Interment: Steve will be laid to rest in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery following military honors at 1 p.m. Visitation: He will lie in state Wednesday in the Parlor at Robertson Mueller Harper; his family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. in the Great Room. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Bethel Bible Church, 124 HCR 1250, Whitney, Texas 76692; or to North Park Baptist Church, 7025 Mid Cities Blvd., North Richland Hills, Texas 76180, in Steve's memory, is suggested. A native of Hill County, Steve Jr. was born June 28, 1925, the son of Steve and Lillie Elizabeth Roberts Boyd. He married Delta Glynn on May 24, 1945. Steve proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Merchant Marine. Following the war, he owned and operated Worth Beauty Supply in Fort Worth until 1982. He was a member of American Legion Post #0379 and the S.S. Stephen Hopkins Chapter of the U.S. Merchant Marine. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Gregory Boyd, and his sister, Marie Boyd Curry. Survivors: Steve is survived by his wife of 63 years, Delta Glynn Boyd; children, Elaine Boyd Becker, Stephanie Boyd Farmer, Timothy Paul Boyd and his wife, Cheryl, Scott Boyd, Leigh Boyd, Delta Elizabeth Boyd Thomas; daughter-in-law, Betty Boyd; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, the Rev.
