HURST -- Teddie Blanton Brogan, 68, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010, in Fort Worth from a lengthy illness. Funeral: 4 p.m. Saturday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Arthritis Foundation of SpritHorse Therapeutic Riding Center, 1960 Post Oak, Corinth, Texas 76210. She was born in Galveston to Reed and Sarah Blanton on June 29, 1942. She graduated from University of North Texas with a bachelor of science degree in education and from Texas Woman's University with a master's degree in counseling. She married her husband, James H. Brogan, in 1963. Teddie was an English teacher at Meadowbrook Junior High and a science teacher at Meacham Junior High. After the birth of her children, she devoted her life to them. She was involved in many organizations, such as Women's League of Voters, the Embroiders Guild and the Genealogical Society of Liverpool. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Fort Worth. She was a Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a strong advocate for the hearing impaired. Teddie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was predeceased by her parents. Survivors: Her husband of 47 years, James H. Brogan of Hurst; children, Sean L. Brogan and wife, Kara, of Allen, Colleen Brogan-Haan and husband, Scott Haan, of Whitehouse and Dr. Heather Brogan-Myers and husband, Dr. David Myers, of Lewisville; grandchildren, Ashley, Katie, Lily and Beckett Brogan, Elisabeth, Erik and Ethan Haan, Andrew, Rebecca and Luke Myers; brothers, Davis Blanton and wife, Sue, of Dallas, James Ray Blanton of Houston, Larry Blanton and wife, Donna, of Houston and Lee Blanton of Texas City; and numerous other family members and friends.
