Type Obit Here FORT WORTH -- Thelma M. Dixon passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009. Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Richland Hills Church of Christ. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lucas Funeral Home, 517 N. Sylvania Ave. Thelma M. Dixon was born Nov. 22, 1924, to Stanley and Lela May Dixon in La Rue. She graduated from La Paynor High School in 1942 and graduated with a degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1962. She enjoyed her education at UTA after having served in the Navy Waves during World War II. On March 15, l947, she married Edward L. Harvey. In November 1948, their only child, Edward L. Harvey Jr., was born. Thelma and Ed spent their years living in the Fort Worth area. They worked side by side in the business they owned, Trail Master Tanks. Thelma was not afraid of hard work or difficult circumstances. Thelma was a strong woman. She was a charter member of Richland Hills Church of Christ, where she taught children's Bible classes. After her retirement she spent many hours volunteering at the church. She was involved with World Bible School, worked in the church office and enjoyed the quilting group on Thursdays. Many people were blessed and encouraged by her diligent work. She will be missed by her beloved church family. She loved her family and will be missed. Thelma would be honored by people doing good things for children. Her husband, Ed, died in their 49th year of marriage in 1996. Her parents and her brother, JR Dixon, also preceded her in death. Survivors: Son, Edward L. Harvey Jr. and his wife, Danna; granddaughter Ashley Wilcox; sisters, Estelle Dixon Corder and Yvonne Dixon Welch; brother, Homer Layton Dixon; and many nieces and nephews.
