Thomas Birt

Born Feb. 10, 1950 in Indianapolis, IN to Charles and Frances Birt, Tom was a "geek" from his early years. He began rewiring lamps and electrical outlets at the age of 4. From there he graduated to ham radio and building televisions. There were not many jobs around the house that Tom couldn't do. He earned a BS in computer science from Rose Hulman University in Terre Haute, IN. He met Annette Etter on Good Friday in 1975 at TGI Fridays and they married later that year. Tom was a systems analyst for most of his career in the oil and aviation industries. In recent years he embarked on a part time real estate career. Tom enjoyed giving to others in his family and in the community. Over the years he was a Girl Scout, band parent, frequent blood donor, and had been a volunteer at Grapevine Relief and Community Exchange in the clinic and technology center. Always eager to help others he was a role model of the highest caliber for all who knew him.        In lieu of Flowers please make a memorial contribution to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.        Survivors: He is survived by his loving wife Annette; son, Greg Birt and wife Leticia; daughter, Candace Southern and husband Derek; and 5 grandsons.
