Tommy Dodd, 63, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, December 30, 2009 with his loving wife, Vivie and devoted dog, Max at his side. Services were held as follows: A memorial service was held 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 6 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home and Crematorium in Waco. A local visitation and memorial celebration was conducted 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 7 at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield. Interment will be at a later date. Memorials: His memory may be honored with donations to the Mansfield Church of Christ, 580 Pleasant Ridge Drive, Mansfield, TX 76063. Tommy was born August 6, 1946 in Waco to Harry and Hestha Dodd, who preceded their son in death. He was a graduate of Richfield High School and attended TCU. Tommy served in the Air Force Reserves for six years. He was employed with Central Freight Lines, General Dynamics and IBM in Waco before moving to the Dallas area. Most recently Tommy was employed by the Army and Air Force Exchange Services in Dallas, TX and volunteered for an interim assignment in Kuwait in early 2005. Tommy enjoyed reading, various outdoor activities, scuba diving and blasting across the desert in Kuwait. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed helping other people and play time with his faithful dog, Max. Hobbies included working on high performance vehicles, which reminded him of his early racing days. Tommy maintained throughout his recent three year illness, a positive attitude and always greeted visitors in person or via telephone, with his typically jovial laughter. Survivors: Wife, Vivie Dodd of Mansfield, TX; daughter, Allison DuBose and husband, Shane of Tomball, TX; son, Clint Smith of Dallas, TX; brother, Jerry Dodd of Waco, TX; sister, Kathy Holloway of Dallas, TX; niece, Catherine Sampels; grand nieces, Elizabeth and Rachael, all of Dallas, TX.
