FORT WORTH -- Thomas Alexander Gardner, 92, went to see his Lord on Friday, June 24, 2011. Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Truth In Love, P.O. Box 865, Hurst, Texas 76053 and/or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, www.lls.org. Tom was born in Drew, Miss., Feb. 15, 1919, to Robert and Erma Gardner. He graduated with a degree in engineering from Mississippi State University and went on to serve his country faithfully in the United States Army during World War II. Tom was previously an elder at Eastridge and Midtown Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing and flying as a private pilot. Tom was well known for his recording DVD's, CD's and various other media for lectureships which were distributed to churches across the country and around the world. Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Gardner, and his second wife, Doris Gardner. Survivors: Sons, Roy Gardner and wife, Sandy, Jerry Gardner; daughters, Debbie Crite, Janice Gardner; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Gardner, Angela Gardner; nephews, John Gardner Jr., David Gardner, Robie Gardner; nieces, Betty Thomas, Ruth Pimm, Diana Covington, Lynn Wells; and numerous other family members and friends.
