Valeta Boykin

Valeta Avis Nowlin Boykin, 95, passed away peacefully and stood in the presence of her Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010. Valeta was born June 23, 1914 in Italy, Texas. She was the daughter of Susie Carrie and O. J. Nowlin. She married Henry Boykin on December 29, 1946 and began her wonderful life with Henry. Four years later she had twin girls, Judy and Linda. Valeta lived life to the fullest, making many friends along the way. The love of the Lord was very important to her, and she passed that love on to her family. Later in life she and Henry enjoyed singing and traveling with the Retta Rockers. They enjoyed traveling to new places in their camper and being with family. She loved singing, playing the organ and the ukulele, cooking, sewing, romantic movies and going out to lunch with friends! At age 90 years old she bought her first new car, a VW Beetle convertible with personalized "Valeta" plates. She could be seen all over town with her friends in tow! Valeta loved life with utmost JOY! She was an active member of Acton United Methodist Church and the 50/50 Sunday school class. The entire family would like to thank Mission Hospice for their wonderful care of our mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Boykin; daughter, Joy Conrad; mother, Susie Carrie Berring ; father, O.J. Nowlin and brother, John Nowlin. Survivors: Daughters, Judy Back and husband Jake of Granbury, Linda Lukas and husband Jerry of Granbury; Grandchildren, Daryl Back and wife Autumn of Stephenville, Tammy Labhart and husband Patrick of Keller, Jason Back and wife Lindsay of Springtown, Caleb Back of Granbury, David Conrad of Fort Worth and Gary Conrad of Portland, Oregon; six great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
