Vera Etheridge

HURST -- Vera M. Etheridge, 91, peacefully passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at a local care facility. Funeral: 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Lucas Hurst Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road. The Rev. Jerry Powers, pastor of Friendship Baptist Church of Hurst, will officiate. Interment: Following a committal service, Vera will be laid to rest in Greenwood Memorial Park beside her husband, Ancle James Etheridge, who preceded her in death in 1988. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Lucas Hurst Funeral Home Chapel. Vera was born Jan. 31, 1918, in Waurika, Okla., to Robert Riley and Mittie Lou Gentry Tallant. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose major emphasis in life was taking care of her family. Vera and her husband, Ancel, moved to the Fort Worth area 65 years ago and this was home for all those years. Survivors: Her sons, Charles Etheridge and wife, Kaye, of Arlington, Gary Etheridge and wife, Lynn, of Hurst and A.J. Etheridge of Hurst; daughter, Vicki Walker and husband, Jerry, of Winsboro; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Henry Tallant of Richardson; and extended family including nieces and nephews.
