ARLINGTON -- Virginia Odette (Jones) Canada, age 88, of Dallas, Texas died on Tuesday, August 17, 2010. Family services were held Saturday, August 21, 2010 prior to burial in Houston, Texas. Virginia was born on August 25, 1922 in Dallas, Texas. She was baptized at age 7 at the Ervay Street Baptist Church in Dallas and continued her membership at Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from Dallas Technical High School in 1939 and married John Henry Canada on November 25, 1943. As a young women, she worked at Texas and Pacific Railroad in Downtown Dallas. She later moved to Houston and worked at home to raise her family until widowed at a young age. Virginia moved back to Dallas and worked for Sysco Foods and later managed several apartment complexes in the DFW area. Later in life she traveled the country with various family members and became lovingly known as the family Farkel Queen. Survivors: She is survived by her children Carol Canada, Victoria and her husband James Boyer and Bill Canada; grandchildren, Cynthia Mersch, Rhonda and husband Lorenzo Garley, Russell and wife Christine Boyer, Travis Boyer and partner Donny Cervantes; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Erin Mersch, Sophia, Gabriel and Nicholas Boyer; siblings, Wanda Malone and Milton (Buster) Jones.
