HALTOM CITY -- Walter Leo Brickell Jr., 93, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Pastor Richard Owens will officiate. Burial: will be in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Walter was born April 20, 1920, in Grandview, the son of Walter and Arlie Brickell. He was united in marriage to Rebecca Kelsch on Aug. 3, 1939. Walter was a member of the 382nd Infantry Regiment during World War II and fought bravely in Okinawa and the Philippine Islands. He was preceded in death by brothers, Sam, Donald and Eddie Brickell; sisters, Helen Cockroft and Laura Jones; and daughter, Virginia Louise Koontz. Survivors: Wife, Rebecca Brickell; son, Charles Brickell and his wife, Anne; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
