???FORT WORTH -- Walter F. Stecker Jr., 81, a longtime Fort Worth resident, died peacefully Wednesday morning, March 15, 2006, after a long illness. ??? Funeral: Noon Saturday in the chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper. The Rev. Verne Fuqua, associate minister at Arborlawn United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial: Walter will be laid to rest next to his first wife, Vivian, in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: His family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home. ??? Memorials: Mr. Stecker's family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, his memory may be honored by making contributions to the Alzheimer's Foundation. ??? Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on May 22, 1924, Walter Freeeman Stecker Jr. was the son of Walter Freeman and Margaret Ellen Holden Stecker. ??? He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Medal in April 1945. Returning home from military service, he obtained a college degree from Texas Christian University. Walter then went to work for General Dynamics, where he remained for 38 years until retirement in 1989. ??? Survivors: Wife, Ann F. Stecker of Hamilton; sons, David Stecker and his wife, Christine, of Fort Worth and J. Howard Stecker and his wife, Josefina, of Norwalk, Conn.; grandchildren, Dustin, Brian, Greg, Lindsey and Peter; and sister, Elizabeth Stecker Schlueter of Austin.
