FORT WORTH -- Warren O. Rimbey, 86, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully Tuesday morning, April 3, 2007, at his residence. Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 5001 Crestline Road, with the Rev. Christopher N. Jambor celebrant. Burial: Warren will be laid to rest in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: Following the service in the cemetery, the family will receive friends in the church parish hall. Bearers of his casket will be James Hastings Snowden IV, Russell Haws, Randall Haws, Ronald W. Rimbey, James O. Rimbey and John R. Rimbey. Honorary bearers are Jack James and Ed Ferree. Memorials: Consideration of contributions to All Saints' Episcopal Church or a charity of choice, in memory of Warren, is suggested. Warren was born in Jacksonville, Ill., on Oct. 1, 1920, the son of Oliver W. and Ova Gocher Rimbey. His elementary and high school years were spent in Illinois and Harlingen, where his family owned property. He attended the University of Illinois, studying architecture, until leaving for the armed forces after the invasion of Pearl Harbor. As a squadron radar officer in the Troop Carrier Command, Warren served in the European theater and participated in the D-Day invasion and following actions. His unit received two Unit Citations and seven Battle Stars. After leaving the service in 1946, Warren returned to Texas and resided in Fort Worth, where he remained the rest of his life. During his early days, he built homes before joining a commercial subcontracting company, where he prepared successful roofing and sheet metal bids. In 1952, Warren joined Gunn & Briggs Co. as a partner where he later became president. Major projects included the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant, the Kimbell Art Museum, the principle roofing and sheet metal renovations on the Sundance Square project, the Museum of Science and History and the Amon Carter Museum. Warren was a long-time member of All Saints' Episcopal Church. He held most lay positions there including being junior and senior warden and vestryman. He also served as school warden of All Saints' Parish Day School, where he was awarded the school's "Saints' Award." He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Moslah Shrine, past board member of the Fort Worth Symphony, the Texas Boys Choir and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America and a board member and past president of the North Texas Contractors Association. Warren was also a 52-year member of the Rotary Club of Western Fort Worth. In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by his oldest son, David William Rimbey, in 1987; stepsons, Riley and Roy Haws; and his brother, Raymond. Survivors: His wife of 28 years, Rosemary Morse Haws Rimbey; daughter, Ann E. Rimbey; son, Richard T. "Dick" Rimbey, all of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Laura Snowden, James Hastings Snowden IV, Shannon Snowden Hayes, Lisa Rimbey Beyer and her husband, Chris, and Natalie Rimbey Pittman and her husband, Zachary; stepsons, Russell "Rusty" Haws and his wife, Judy, and their daughter, Holly Haws Fontaine, and her husband, Andre, and Randall "Randy" Haws and his sons, Charlie and William Haws; daughters-in law, Janet Haws Cooper and her husband, Brown, and Custer Haws Smith and her husband, Chris; 11 great-grandchildren; nephews, Ronald W. Rimbey and his wife, Linda, of Emory, James O. Rimbey and his wife, Tammy, of Corpus Christi and John R.
