FORT WORTH -- Joe Wayne Prickett, 79, died peacefully Tuesday morning, April 29, 2008, surrounded by his family. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Edge Park United Methodist Church, 5616 Crowley Road. Following military honors at 2:30 p.m., Wayne will be laid to rest in the Godley Cemetery, Godley. Visitation: He will lie in state on Thursday in the Drawing Room at Robertson Mueller Harper; his family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials: Consideration of contributions to a charity of one's choice, in Wayne's memory, is suggested. A native of Godley, Joe Wayne was born Nov. 6, 1928, the son of Joseph Andrew and Sene Mae Page Prickett. After serving his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and beyond, Wayne retired as a sergeant first class. He married Miss Jacquelyn Miller on May 20, 1955. They were longtime members of St. Paul United Methodist Church and most recently, Edge Park United Methodist Church. The couple enjoyed many family activities together with their children including, fishing, camping and children's sports, baseball, football and rodeos. Wayne was also a master plumber and a member of Plumber and Pipefitters Local #146. Following his retirement as a plumber, he became a crossing guard for the Fort Worth ISD. His many hobbies and personal activities included daily trips to McDonald's, playing dominoes and cards, and various church activities. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his sisters, Kate Craig and Willie McCullers. Survivors: His wife of 52 years, Jackie; sons, Butch Prickett and his wife, Brenda, and Andy Prickett and his wife, Candy; daughter, Regina Prickett Mangham, all of Fort Worth, and Jane Prickett Krueger and her husband, Kevin, of Burleson; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several close nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
