Weldon "Sonny" Grant, formerly of Paducah, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at First Baptist Church of Watauga. Masonic graveside service: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller. Dad was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. His passion, however, was his membership in the Masonic Lodge. Dad was a 32nd-degree Mason and endowed member of A&A Scottish Rite of Freemasonry for more than 40 years. He mentored and tutored countless men, young and old, down the path to become Masons. He was respected and loved by his brothers at Haltom City Lodge #1331 AF&AM and a member of the Moslah Shrine. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Patsy. Survivors: Son, Daren Grant; granddaughter, Madison Grant; daughter, Renae Grant and her partner, Kay Black; sisters, Velma "Honey" McGraw and Peggy Chrestman and husband, Paul; sister-in-law, Nell James; brother-in-law, Bob Smith and wife, Linda; granddogs, Taley and Lucky; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and Masonic brothers.
