KENNEDALE -- Wesley Calvin Horton Jr., 86, a retired plumber, passed from this life Sunday, June 10, 2007, at a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday in Blessing Colonial Chapel. Burial: Emerald Hills Memorial Park, Kennedale. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Blessing Funeral Home. Wesley was born in Canton on Jan. 28, 1921, the son of Wesley Horton Sr. and Annie B. Horton. He married Hazel Janell Mitchell in Kennedale on Jan. 10, 1942. Mr. Horton, a Purple Heart recipient, was a veteran of World War II,, serving in the the U.S. Army in the Pacific theater. Wesley was a former mayor of Kennedale. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Horton, and 11 siblings. Survivors: Brother, Albert D. Horton of Fort Worth; "the kids," Linda Doud Hix and husband, Tom, of Cleburne, Avanelle Mitchell Porras and husband, Jaime, of Arlington and Twila Mitchell Rojas and husband, German, of Grand Prairie; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-grerat-nephews; and his sweetheart, Mary Love of Covenant Place, Burleson.
