NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- William Maurice Gosdin,83, died Friday, October 19, at a local care center. Funeral: 11 am Tuesday, October 22, at Lucas Funeral Home 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. Visitation: The family will receive friends Monday 6 to 8 pm at the Funeral Home. Burial: Maurice will be laid to rest at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery following the funeral service. Maurice was born January 04, 1925, in Hollis, Oklahoma, to Jewel William and Thelma DeSpain Gosdin. Maurice and Mary Lou Quinton were married June 15, 1946. Maurice proudly and honorably served his country during World War II. He found great satisfaction in being a Mason. He was a Past Master of Smithfield Lodge #455 of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. He was active in the Gilmer Bethesda Lodge in Gilmer, Texas, serving as Secretary of the Lodge. He, also, was proud to be Past Monarch of Grotto in Shreveport, La. One of his favorite past times was fishing where he said he felt close to God. He spent many happy hours out on the boat with his grandchildren. In addition to be preceded in death by his parents, he was preceded by a son, Charles Gosdin. Survivors: Wife, Mary Lou Gosdin; Daughter, Sylvia Chancellor and husband Larry; grandchildren, Karla Richardson and husband Paul, Dwayne Langford and wife Leslie; Dawnyelle Wickware and husband Todd; Brandon Gosdin; great-grandchildren, Robert, Lauren, Jane, Wyatt, Hannah, Luke, Carson, Michael, Nate; sisters, Jean Arrington, Shirley Rutledge and husband Terry, Joyce Mask, Carolyn Dortch and husband Jack; brothers, John Gosdin and wife Pat, Calvin Gosdin and Wife Mary Jo, James Gosdin; nieces, nephews and extended family.
