FORT WORTH -- William S. Jobe Jr., 90, a retired Air Force master sergeant, passed away Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010. Graveside service: 3 p.m. Sunday in Scranton Cemetery, the Rev. Robert Nimocks officiating. He was born to W.S. and Mimia Jobe on the family farm located three miles south of Putnam, where he grew up. W.S. joined the Army Air Corps in early 1941 and transferred to the U.S. Air Force when it was established in 1947. He retired from the Air Force in 1962. After retirement he moved back to Putnam and served as mayor in the mid-1960s. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Clarice Sprawls and Margie McCarver; niece, Mildred Thiberville. Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law, David and Rosemary Jobe of Bedford; granddaughters, Melanie Piekarski of Arlington and Amanda Jobe of Dallas; great-grandchildren, Katya and Holden Piekarski of Arlington.
