W. R. (Papa Dub) Kelso began his new life in heaven Sunday July 16, 2006. He was born in Fredonia, Texas on July 27, 1920 and was the youngest of nine children born to Alfred and Leona Kelso. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings and his beloved first wife, Dessie Lee Burnett-Kelso. In 1962, Dub married Margie Liverman-Turner and blended two families into one larger family that are united forever by love and respect for our parents and for each other. Papa Dub is survived by his beloved wife Margie, daughter Karen McMeans and husband Jerry, daughter Sue Burr and husband Kay, daughter Lana McCleskey and husband John, daughter Laurie Van Cleve and husband David, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren (with 2 more expected to arrive soon) and numerous extended family and friends. Papa Dub is a shining example of a life well lived. He was a combat veteran of WWII serving in Africa and Italy. Throughout his lifetime he provided a comfortable life for his family by working as a home builder, stone mason, service station owner, restaurant owner and salesman. He was a man of strong faith and served as an Elder of the Church of Christ in both San Antonio and Marble Falls Texas for over 25 years. He worked on medical and teaching mission trips in Mexico, Trinidad and Barbados. All those that he left behind here on earth will miss his example of faith, love for family and friends and most of all his wonderful sense of humor. Our loss is heavens gain. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Marble Falls Church of Christ, Marble Falls, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
