NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- William Lee McDowell, 54, a loving father, son, brother and beloved best friend to his wife, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007. Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Lucas Hurst Funeral Chapel. Burial: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: Contributions are requested to Bread for a Hungry World at Richland Hills Church of Christ. Bill, the son of Eldon and Marjorie Duke McDowell, was born March 11, 1953, in Dallas. He was an Eagle Scout and, in earlier years, was a marathon runner. He was active in Richland Hills Church of Christ as a teacher and participant in many church activities. His favorite scripture was John 13:3-5. Among his hobbies were cattle raising on the M&J farm, deer and bird hunting and fishing. He was a claims adjuster for Custard Insurance Adjusters. Bill put God first, then wife and children, then family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. McDowell and Mr. and Mrs. Lee A. Duke; and nephew, Brandon C. Presley. Survivors: Loving wife, Jan; son, Nathan Lee McDowell and wife, Melissa; daughter, Beth Anne Everitt and husband, Jason; parents, Eldon and Marjorie McDowell; sisters, Mary Kay Lewis and husband, Max, Sally Carol Kempff and husband, Pieter; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Walterine and Eugene Vinson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stephen and Karen Vinson; and extended family.
