William Curtis Nelson

William Curtis Nelson, 73, recently of Fairview, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17 2013. Curt was born in Washington D.C. Aug. 30, 1940 and lived in California and Illinois before settling in the DFW area in the late 1990’s. In California, he worked his way up through the ranks at Montgomery Ward; beginning as a shoe salesman. He moved to Chicago in the early 1980’s to work at the Montgomery Ward’s Headquarter, eventually moving up to become the Director of Electric Avenue for the company. In the late 1990’s, after nearly 30 years at the same company, Curt and his wife moved to the Dallas, Texas area and began work for Computer City, and later CompUSA. He retired several years ago and since that time enjoyed the company of family &friends. Curt was always ready to play cards or dominoes and enjoyed traveling in his retirement. Curt was preceded in death by his father John Nelson, mother Phebe Rollo and brother Raymond Nelson. Curt is survived by his wife of 32yrs , Ruth Nelson; his children Donna Schrock (husband, Dave) of Fort Worth, TX , Lisa Pfeiffer (husband, George) of Ventura, CA, John Nelson (partner, Jr.) of Dallas, TX, Curtis Nelson (wife, Carmalita) of Haslet, TX, Heather Leonforte(husband, Jason) of Fort Worth, TX, Cameron Nelson (wife, Michelle) of Chicago, Il. and Dave Flaherty (wife, Gena) of Windom, TX.; grandchildren Cassandra, Michael, Melissa, Jennifer, Thomas, Tyler, Jonathan, Jackson, Tyra, Anna, Jessie, Melana, Autumn, Julianne, Aiden, Shane, Katharine, Liam, Logan, Kamryn and Jazelle; great-granddaughter Kayla-Marie; brother John Nelson (wife Pauline) of Spooner, WI. and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. A memorial service is being held Saturday, January 11, 2014, 2 pm, at Lucas Funeral Home, Keller, Texas.
