Former high school teacher in Dallas at Justin F. Kimball, Carter and W.T. White, Preston died June 2 after fighting a valiant fight against lung cancer for several months. He will be missed by his loving family: Jeanne, his wife of 47 years, daughter Tandy Colburn and husband Ryan, sons Noel Cox and wife Jennifer, Casey Cox and Lisa Johnston, and five grandchildren, Wiley and Zane Cox, Ronan, Megan and Preston Colburn. He is also survived by his sisters Louise Griffin and Marveta Gilliam.Born December 7, 1935 in Montague, Texas, to Marvin and Berta Cox, he attended school in Montague and Nocona, Texas. Preston served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and had a Masters Degree from the University of North Texas.He took great pleasure in teaching his students history and government and stirring interest in his students for world affairs and politics. Services will be held June 5, 2:00 p.m. at Slay Funeral Home in Aubrey, TX, with burial at Belew Cemetery on Hwy. 377 between Aubrey and Pilot Point. He will be taken to the gravesite by his sons in a horse-drawn wagon at his request. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 from 7:00 to 9:00pm at the funeral home. Contributions to the Lung Cancer Association in lieu of flowers are requested.
