Zelma Borah

EULESS -- Kathryn Burton Borah passed away Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst. The Rev. Gary F. Turner will officiate. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Thursday. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to a charity of choice. Kathryn "Kassie" was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Iraan, the oldest child of Lester and Sallie Belle Burton. Her family moved to Fort Worth when Kassie was a young child. Her younger brother, Les "Bulldog" Burton, preceded her in death in May 2004. Kassie graduated from Northside High School in 1935 and worked for the Fort Worth and Denver Railroad (now Burlington Northern Santa Fe) until she retired. Afterwards, she enjoyed meeting a group of "railroad girls" for lunch for many years, until her health failed. She married Loran Arch Borah in Euless on Feb. 19, 1949, at University Christian Church, presided by Dr. Granville Walker. The couple lived in Euless, were married 51 years, and were avid fans of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. Loran passed away Jan. 6, 2000, after a long illness. The family would like to send a special thank-you to Marsha and Craig Ward and Judi Miller, Lexington Place, in Richland Hills, and Gardendale Hospice for the loving care they provided. Our sadness at losing Kassie from this life is comforted by the love that we shared and our many happy memories. Survivors: Sister, Charlene Lawrence and husband, Jay; nephew, Mark Lawrence and wife, Julie, and family; niece, Lori Lawrence; nephew, Gary Burton and wife, Karen, and family; sister-in-law, Lavera Nance; niece, Mary Nance Hunt and husband, Jerry; nephew, Steven Nance and wife, Gay, and daughter.
